Questions concerning the ProCert tool for self-assessment in food safety culture
Why self-evaluation?
Answer
The purpose of this questionnaire is to get you to think about the issue of implementing an effective food safety culture by asking challenging and stimulating questions.
We want to contribute to the development of your food safety management system, which is supported and developed by all staff in your organisation.
Who conducts the self-evaluation?
Answer
It is recommended that the self-assessment be carried out at all levels of the organisation in order to obtain a consistent overview. If the self-assessment is carried out only by the management, the objective of the self-assessment cannot be achieved. Of course, the assessment can also be carried out in groups or individually and be integrated into the annual interview.
What are the limitations of the approach?
Answer
This questionnaire is only useful if all levels of the organisation as well as the employees deal with the questions individually and in sufficient depth. The questionnaire concerns the whole organisation. The whole organisation must have a "say".
Look at the questions critically. If you cannot answer 'yes' with conviction, then you have identified an area for action.
What is the link between the self-assessment and a ProCert audit or assessment?
Answer
The ProCert auditor may find, if necessary, a non-conformity (or a B assessment for IFS Food) on the chapter concerned. This questionnaire is not part of a BRC, FSSC 22000 or IFS assessment.
What does ProCert offer to enhance the value of your self-assessment?
Answer
ProCert offers you a specific remote audit. We then provide you with a confirmation in which we attest to the self-assessment carried out throughout the organisation and the implementation of appropriate measures, provided that the self-assessment was carried out conscientiously (see also FAQ).
The confirmation can be renewed every year. Within the scope of this mandate, we can also provide you with benchmark data in anonymised form if sufficient data is available. Your ProCert Contact person is at your disposal for the organisation of such an audit.
Is there a possibility of benchmarking?
Answer
If you send us your results, you will receive the following analysis from us: your result compared to other organisations. While respecting your anonymity, we will provide you with evidence to illustrate good practices or point out shortcomings. This service will be offered as soon as ProCert has received a certain number of responses.
